Saturday Wagon Tours
Each Saturday, tractor drawn wagon rides through the orchard and
farm are offered from early September to mid-November (depending
on weather). Orchard tours begin at 11:00 am each Saturday morning
and continue until around 3:30 pm. Tours begin approximately every
45 minutes. Children 3 and under are free. Children 8 and under
must be accompanied by an adult.
The tour leaves the Country Store and
travels along Appletree Lane, where apple trees were first planted
in 1930. The scenery is spectacular with wide open vistas of the
orchard and surrounding South Mountains. As you ride past rows
of fruit laden trees you’ll enjoy the beauty of a fall day
as the leaves in the South Mountains begin to change colors.
Once the tour reaches its highest point in the orchard the wagon
will stop and you’ll learn about the orchard’s
history and how apples are grown. Questions are always welcome.
Ask the guide for a story or two; he enjoys sharing local stories
and our family’s history with orchard guests.
The tour continues through new apple tree plantings, along pastured
hill tops, the farm pond, and through shady woods. With so many
beautiful sights to see, remember to bring your camera.
The wagon tour is a great way for family members of all ages to
experience our orchard and farm without having to walk for miles.
Of course after the wagon ride you may want to pick some of those
apples yourself or pick up a bag in our Country
Store.
Groups (minimum of 20) may call 437-1224 (toll free 1-877-437-1224)
to schedule private wagon tours.
